Which Insulation is Mainly Used in an Electrical Machine?

Electrcal machines use a range of insulation materials for different purposes. Motors and transformers make use of following types—

Leatheroid paper
Presspahn paper
Fish paper
Crepe paper / tube
Insulating Varnish
Fibreglass sheet / sleeves / cloth
PVC/ plastic sheets, mouldings and tubes
Moulded Bakelite for terminal plates
Wood — Permali or other types
Rubbers- both natural and synthetic
Oils — mineral / synthetic types
Gels and waxes
Resins — epoxy/ PU / Polyester
Air also works as insulation
These materials find use at different places in different machines.
