What Material is SMC?

SMC is the abbreviation of Sheet molding compound, which is translated into Chinese as a flaky plastic. The main materials are made up of SMC special yarn, unsaturated resin, low shrinkage additive, filler and various auxiliaries. It is a kind of resin matrix composites. It first appeared in Europe in the early 1960s, and developed this technology in the US and Japan in 1965. At the end of 80s, China introduced advanced foreign SMC material production line and production technology. SMC material has excellent electrical performance, corrosion resistance, light weight and easy and flexible engineering design. Its mechanical properties can be comparable with some metal materials, so it is widely used in transportation vehicles, construction, electronic and electrical industries.
