Reinforced Material for Resin Matrix Composites (ii)
The reinforced materials used in resin matrix composites are mainly glass fiber, carbon fiber, aramid fiber, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fiber and so on.
2. Carbon fiber
Carbon fiber has a series of properties, such as high strength, high modulus, high temperature resistance and electrical conductivity. It has been widely applied in aviation and spaceflight. It has been widely used in sports and sporting goods in recent years.
It is predicted that industrial grade carbon fiber will be used in large scale in the fields of civil construction, transportation, automobile, energy and so on. In 1997~2000, the annual growth rate of carbon fiber used for aerospace was estimated to be 31%, while the annual growth rate of industrial carbon fiber was estimated to reach 130%. The overall level of carbon fiber in China is still relatively low, which is equivalent to the middle and late level of foreign countries in 70s, and the gap with foreign countries is about 20 years.
The main problems of domestic carbon fiber are not stable performance, large dispersion coefficient, no high performance carbon fiber, single species, incomplete specifications, continuous length, no surface treatment and high price.
