ABB Launched the World’s First Digital Power Transformers

At the Hannover Messe in Germany in 2018, ABB introduced the world’s first power transformer with integrated digital solutions – ABB digital power transformers to revolutionize the transformer industry. All ABB power transformers that are shipped in the future can be integrated with digital functions to enable remote monitoring and real-time analysis of key parameters to further improve grid stability and asset utilization.

The transformer has a digital hub that can be connected to different smart devices on a modular platform for plug-and-play functionality. Modular design and scalable performance give customers complete control over the digital applications of their products and can be further upgraded in the future.

The recently launched world’s first digital distribution transformer was also unveiled at the Hannover Messe. TXpert enables intelligent applications through connected devices and ABB digital platforms to maximize reliability, optimize operational and maintenance costs, and manage assets more efficiently. As the world’s first similar device, this product directly integrates the sensing technology with the transformer during the production process to achieve higher accuracy.
